I did it again and that dialog box came up. Don't know why that didn't come up the first time I tried to do it.

I usually do this: select the audio go to tools sound forge, then edit in sound forge. Once that is done I hit ctrl s to save. Then I close sound forge and return to sonar it says that the file was modified...if you want to update the project and I press yes and it does...
