Hi Bob,
I had the same problem when I tried to use the effects. Go to effects, use the application key, arrow to audio sub minue, choose the cakewalk or whatever you want, then go to presets and in the combo box use Ault down error and all of your presets should be there.

Subject: [ddots-l] Sonar 5 installed without effects presets

Hi all. Originally, I was going to email only Bill and Gord about this
unusual problem but I thought it might be interesting to other Sonar owners
who may know of a solution. When I first installed Sonar 5 Producer back in
June, I believe I had access to all of the effects presets that supposedly
come with the program although I don't entirely know for sure anymore. I
wasn't sure if I had all of the available soft synthes installed and a list
member recommended in another thread that I uninstall and reinstall Sonar
selecting "all" in each of the options screens for each software component.
This I did and ever since, the combo boxes for all effects presets have been
empty. Like I say, I don't remember for sure if I had the presets on first
install. The other thing I noticed is that all my other settings were
intact from the previous installation. I decided to completely remove Sonar
and Cake Talking as Bill advised me to do last week by clearing out all Cake
Talking script files in the Jaws Settings folder before uninstalling Cake
Talking. I then uninstalled Sonar carefully deleting all files and folders
afterward with the hope of starting completely over. I then upgraded Cake
Talking to the latest patch and reinstalled Sonar without messing with any
of the option screens. Frustratingly, all my old settings were back,
(normal template loads instead of quick start etc.) and effects preset combo
boxes were empty when I tried to patch them in either as real time or
destructive effects. Yes, the Cake Walk effects are available to be used
and modified but it takes a long time to set the parameters for each effect
when everyone else has factory presets at their disposal. Of course, the
Perfect Space and anything else not fully supported are useless without
presets. I tried again uninstalling and reinstalling everything, this time
selecting the default settings button in each of the Sonar options screens.
Again, all my settings remained and no presets to be found. AS a last
resort, I upgraded to Sonar 5.2 but the presets were not restored.
I welcome any new information or suggestions to solve this problem so that I
can get back to recording. Until then, my studio is dry.
Bob.
