Hey Gord when I was considering a new module last year, I was considering between the Yamaha Motif, and the Roland Fantom Xr. At that time at least to my ear the Roland sounds were much more realistic, IE the guitar sounds had more expression. Granted that Yamaha had a slightly better piano sound, but in an all around module and yes giving up some of the accessibility I felt the Roland fantom Xr had more cutting edge sounds, which to this date has kept my clients satisfied, and happy. Furthermore when it comes down to expandability the Roland has more variety. "I thought that there was an accessible editor which was being created."

I wonder what happened to that?
Lastly when I was considering the two modules the Fantom Xr, and the Yamaha Motif Sr, I didn't like the fact that the power supply was outside of the unit. I've had Yamaha modules before, with outside adapters, and to my experience they have been noisy what with there humming at times.

Sarah:
If you're going to spend the money for a Roland Phantom, why not get a yamaha motif which is going to be more accessible?

Will the Roland work with a recording program like sound forge or audacity? and will sibilus recognize it? I don't want to carry a bundle of things just to get a keyboard working when and if I make it to BYU in a few months.

Your best bet is to download the pdf and see if you can convert I it using
adobe reader into text format. If not, and if you have openbook or Kurzweil
1000, they can do it. If not, adobe's web site can also do it if you send it
to them, I think. I am looking into a phantom xr myself, and downloaded the
manual, but haven't looked at it yet.

Hello All:

Just wanted to know if anybody on here is using a Roland Fantom X, and if
they are, how accessible they're finding it. I'm in the process of selling
my Motif es6 and am purchasing the fantom x. Also, does anyone know how I
can obtain Roland's manuals in text format? Roland doesn't seem to
accomedating as far as providing their materials in text.

Thanks for any and all help.
