I think you should spring for a commercial AV program. I personally use trend micro and it has been good for me for several years now. They have a 5 site license which is what I have.Gord----- Original Message ----- From: "Phil Halton" <philhalt@xxxxxxxxxxx>To: "ddots-l" <ddots-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, April 18, 2007 10:43 PM Subject: [ddots-l] OT? Virus help neededhello list,I believe my daw has a virus and would like to hear any and all suggestions as to how to proceed.I have AVG free edition installed on the DAW, and in response to some screwy computer behavior lately, I ran a scan.tonight--the results are as follows:AVG immediately reports that my Partition table, Boot sector, DosKernal.exe, and User32.dll have all changed--not good! The scan continues, and when finished, AVG says "no problems found" Huh? No problems? what ddoes it consider a problem if not those things? Finally, after reading the test results report, I close out AVG , and it crashes telling me that something bad happened and it has to go bye bye now.So, In your collective informed opinions is this as bad as it sounds? I don't think AVG can actually detect any specific problem beyond the fact that these vital areas have changed--but that's enough to flag a serious problem in my book. Should I ignore AVG's report of no problems and assume the worst here? How would suggest I proceed from here?
