Before you cut/copy/paste, try pressing control+shift+double-enter to have CT
tell you about the entire situation with regard to selection. Make sure the
from/through times and tracks in that announcement match up with what you
expect.

If you're in the track view, press cut or copy, and only hear the Windows ding
sound, then the cut/copy command wasn't available. The cut/copy commands are
only available when you've made a selection. If you're sure that you've made a
selection, then you might be accidentally clearing it with another command.
Press control+shift+double-enter immediately after selecting in order to be
sure that your selection was accepted, and try control+shift+double-enter when
you aren't able to use cut/copy.
