You need to turn input echo on and monitor only through your sound card, not
from the direct signal.

Subject: [ddots-l] Listening to inserted effects while recording
** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:-Hello cakeTalkers,
with destructive as well as with non-destructive effects I did not find a way to let them sound while recording. That means, I have to use the guitar "dry" and only then insert the distortion effect. However, it sure is a difference playing it with or without hearing the distortion effect. Of course, I could use an External machine for that. I just think there must be something I didn't realize with sonar so far.
Can anyone give some help?
Thanks in advance!
Wolfgang
