Actually, just a little correction here. The only thing I absolutely need to use my control surface for is to dynamically change volume. In other words, the faders are not visible to the screen reader. Further, I happen to have an expensive control surface but any surface using the HUI protocol will work. For what it's worth, JAWS and Window Eyes apparently see a whole bunch of things in the latest version of Pro Tools. With each new version of PT coming out, I think it's a good idea for people to check out the state of things. For that matter, the new PT 8 which is coming out in a couple of months, the user interface has been completely redesigned with customizable windows and displays. Definitely worth another look on the Windows side.

We can't use it easily. Jerry is definitely the exception with regard to using Pro Tools. also, Jerry has quite a hi end control surface that he uses in order to drive Pro Tools on a Mac. In other words, Jerry is using the control surface to achieve most of his accessibility, rather than the Mac itself.Regards, Phil Muir P J Muir Productions, Music And Audio Production Telephone: US (615) 713-2021 UK+44-1747-821-794 Mobile: UK +44-7968-136-246 E-mail: info@xxxxxxxxxxxx URL: www.philmuir.com/----- Original Message ----- From: "Neville Peter" <neville@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <ddots-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, November 24, 2008 5:59 AM Subject: [ddots-l] Re: Issue with my mac book and Tascam FW1884.Oh I didn't know that we blind peeps could use that. Don't want to make you or anyone else feel sad. sorry if I came across asnot caring. I personally have a lot of respect for people like yourselfwho work on a Mac using PT.Oh Phil, nevermind me. It's a knee jerk reaction on both our parts. Whenever I hear about somebody having a problem with their Windows machine, my first inclination is to say, "Well your first problem is that you're using Windows." Without, of course, considering that it may be user error, a third party software conflict or, as in this case, a hardware issue which, Iwasn't aware of because I never had such a FireWire issue. Thanks to Kevin for that info. At any rate, yes, it did sound like a categorical dismissalof which I'm often guilty. thanks for the clarification. Cheers, Slau PLEASE READ THIS FOOTER AT LEAST ONCE!
