Hi. That is a drag. I assume I can't have it modded to solve the problem?
I really don't want jhaws running through my freaking studio monitors!
Would one have these issues with a USB interface too?

Hey man. Here's the deal. Apple cut corners when putting the fire wire chip
into the macbook. The macbook has a generic fire wire port, which is
integrated right onto the motherboard. The Macbook Pro actually has a
dedicated Texas Instrument card built right into the laptop, so fire wire
runs much smoother. Several things can interfere with your audio stream on
the macbook because of the shotty port you've been given. Trust me. I've
been dealing with this for a while. First, disable the 1394 network driver
in the device manager. Also, whenever you want to record or play back using
the fw, you'll need to disable the wireless card as well. That is also found
in the device manager under networking. It's the atheros network adapter.
Also, disable all bluetooth radios. Lastly, make sure Jaws is running
through the fw and not your built in card. Whenever jaws plays back through
the built-in sound card, it steals resources away from the fire wire port
for some reason. This was true with Mlan, but I'm assuming it's also true
with just plain asio. I hope this helps. I know it blows and is really
inconvenient, but this is what I've found having used Sonar with the macbook
for a few months. Hope this helps.
