Feel underneath the front panel to see if there is a slot
which you can get your fingers into. Quite often this will
allow you to fully the front of the case forward. It's quite
a common configuration with PCs these days.

Subject: [ddots-l] Installing replacement DVD burner in my
Dell.

Hi. I need some guidance on this if anyone has experience.
When you take
off the side panel, it's a tower case by the way, you can
feel all the
components in their slots near the top, current DVD drive,
floppy drive,
etc. It will either be a screw in job, or, a slide in
locking slot kind as
far as I know. However, I can't get the old drive out. I
disconnected the
cables, but can't find any screws holding it in place. It
can't go back
into the machine, or, forward out the front bay slot though.
I'm
frustrated.

There is a front panel that seems to be preventing this. I
tried sliding
the new drive into the spare bay below, but that did not
work from either
direction. It seems to me that the front panel wants to
come off, but it
doesn't look like it's supposed to.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Cameron.
