After you've decided whether to place the effect in the track or the bus,
simply start your song with the effect's send level at -INF and take an
automation snapshot.  Make sure that automation write is enabled.  Then move
the level to your desired amount at the point where you want it to appear
and take another automation snapshot.  Then take a third snapshot with the
level at -INF where you want the effect to stop again.
