Steve, The number of tics for a quarter note can be set to different values. The default in Sonar may be 960 tics, but if it's set to a different value in the preferences, then all the numbers may be a fraction or multiple. In fact if you import a MIDI file from another application that may well be the case. I've seen many files where the quarter note duration is 240 tics, for example. So for the duration it's important to first know how many tics to the quarter note. Look at the event of a known note position and refer to the position column. If you know it's the second beat, then the tics number will be either 960, or whatever number is the default. Use that as your basis. Ok we are going to have a G5 for our wrong note and it also has the wrong velocity and duration, located on bar 10 beat 2 tick 480. 1: get to the position on your song where the mistake has been made, 2: go to event view by pressing Alt 4, 3: arrow across right until you are on, "Bar Beat Tick" column, making sure this is on the Bar Beat and tick position for the note you wish to change, example Bar 10 beat 2 tick 480, 4: Now move cursor across right until you hear the note name "G5" column, 5 press enter on this column and arrow up or down to the note you wish to change the G5 too, lets say F5, 6: once you hear F5 press enter again and the note is changed, 7: arrow right once will put you on velocity, again just press enter type in new velocity number let say 97 and press enter again, 8: move right once more to duration press enter and type in the duration you want, example we want it to be a eighth note so we type 480 then press enter. We now have F5 Velocity 97 and duration 480 ticks. Ticks are: one quarter note =960 ticks, eighth note 480 ticks, sixteenth note =240 ticks. Hope this helps, Steve W ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Wicketts" <steve.wicketts@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <ddots-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, October 30, 2010 1:14 PM Subject: [ddots-l] Re: How to correct certain parts in MIDI recording > Sorry DJX you are quite right, a quarter note is 960 ticks. > Thanks for pointing this out to me, off to email with corrections. > > Steve W > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "D!J!X!" <megamansuperior@xxxxxxxxxxx> > To: <ddots-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Saturday, October 30, 2010 1:07 PM > Subject: [ddots-l] Re: How to correct certain parts in MIDI recording > > > Correction (though I might be wrong myself), in Sonar, quarter = 1 beat, > you'd write it 1:00.
