I changed my buffer settings from 2 to 4 and that seem to take care of the pops and glitches for now.

Herman,

Don't forget to check your clock source under the FW+1884 control panel. If your using the Octtipre,, you need to set it to "ADAT". Otherwise, you need to set it to "internal". Then, always do your audio profiling and reboot Sonar.

What other settings did you have to change or tweak? I'm having the same problem here and I also have the Tascam 1884. After switching to WDM still getting pops albeit a whole lot less..

Hey Gord!

Thanx for the feedback, I've made a record of your advice.
As luck would have it, I spoke to Phil Muir, and he helped me out by basically changing the ASIO drivers to the WDM ones, and everything is now hunky dory!

Mike:
Have you done some of the basic tweaks for best audio performance? Have you set priority to background services in the performance dialog under the advanced tab of system in windows control pannel? Have you set your paging file size to be constant, the same for minimum and maximum, which should be 1.5 times your amount of ram? HOw much ram do you have? What do you have the latency set at for you Tascam? There are many reasons you could be having this difficulty. Is the clock source of the tasam set appropriately? I'm sorry to dump all this on you, but any one of these factors can contribute to poor audio performance.

Hey Gord!

I'm using a Tascam FW1884 as my primary soundcard with the asio drivers, and I do have a separate hard drive for audio...

What sound card are you using for Sonar? Are you using asio or wdm drivers? Do you have a separate hard ddrive for audio?

Hey DD peeps!

I'm getting little pops and crackles coming out of my monitors, but I'm only playing back 1 track of audio, and I'm playing along.

I have a project open with 4 audio trax with 1 plug-in inserted on each channel.

I went to the Cakewalk website and found out about the AUD.INI file, which I could alter in order to solve my problem.

However, I can't find the AUD.INI file on my system?

Please can you help, this is driving me crazy, my buffers are currently set to 256kHz.

I realise that this should only happen with a project with numerous audio trax happening, so I'm very confused!

I'm running a Carillon dual core pentium 4 system, with 2Gb of RAM, and 650 Gb of hard disc space.

I'm also running Sonar 6 Pro, with the latest version of Cake Talking.

Please can you help?

Thanx

Best regards

Mike Christer
