Hi. The VG99 is totally in another league to anything I've heard before. It does have a price tag though. I guess it depends what you want it for. I'll see if I can find some demos of it and post some links. ----- Original Message ----- From: Mike C To: ddots-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, October 04, 2009 11:55 AM Subject: [ddots-l] Re: Digidesign Eleven rack with Sonar 8, any thoughts? Hi Darren I don't think he was impressed with any of the Boss stuff which is esentually from Roland. I'd like to know Camerin what turned you off from the line6 stuff? Is it that you feel that your playing is beeing somehow sacrificed? Do you feel like you are dragging when playing with this unit? I certainly had this problem with the regular Pod/Xt units, but with the X3, there is definatly a remarkable improvement. the Pod X3-pro has all the inputs you are talking about, and is USB 2 capible. Definatly worth checking out if you havn't. The pro tools stuff is definatly not accessible at this point in time, and at some point your seriously going to have to consider accessibility. But then again I understand when it comes down to personal taste, its what sounds and feels great to you that's going to matter in the long run. All these units have their strengths and weeknesses, and professionals do use them, and I've come to realize in my life at this point no matter how and which way you turn it, its you the user who's going to use that piece of equipment. There's never going to be a perfect unit out there that can possibly do everything. Just my opinion. ----- Original Message ----- From: Darren H To: ddots-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, October 04, 2009 4:25 AM Subject: [ddots-l] Re: Digidesign Eleven rack with Sonar 8, any thoughts? Hi. If you have the cash, look up the Roland VG99. It is an absolutely astonishing virtual modeling guitar processor. It's absolutely off this planet. I have been doing a lot of reading on this unit, listening to sound samples, etc. I am looking for a pro quality direct guitar recording solution. I like the sounds in guitar rig 3 but the lack of accessibility is a pain. Supposedly the eleven rack has physical controls on the front and you can run it stand alone. This would eliminate the need to use the plug in GUI which 1, I'm doubting is very accessible, and 2, may not work in sonar eight in the first place. I'm thinking I could run it into two of the line outs on my motu MK896 MK3 and use it as a stand alone unit to track with? It also has a dry output jack so you can also record a guitar track for re amping later. This is a neat feature me thinks. So, has anyone seen this unit in action yet? Got their hands on it? Any feedback? No pun intended. It's not cheap. But, I've tried the boss and line six stuff as well as digitech and none of them impressed me when playing/recording direct. and before anyone chimes in, (Chris), the axe fx and the other really high end units are out of my budget. Hell, even this will take some saving. She's eight hundred something dollars when you hunt around online. Thanks, Cameron.
