Graham. You can probably check on Ebay or some used places for a Yamaha
Motif classic or a Roland XP60 or some variation of that like the XP30.
As
for the delta, yes, you could connect directly to the breakout cable and
record that way.

        Damon,

Thanks for replying to my rather elementary questions.

As far as the keyboard is concerned, I am a musician and, therefore,
would
much prefer touch-sensative keys of at least 5 octaves. I would like to
control soft synths on the PC with it but would also like it to have its
own
sounds if possible. The problem is that I could not afford more
than=A3500
($1000) so I would consider a compromise if necessary.

With regard to the M-Audio 1010LT, would I need any additional equipment
or
could I connect my sources directly to the breakout cables and do the
mixing
with the software?

Thanks again for your help.

Graham. The delta 1010lt will probably do what you want. The midi should
work fine as long as you are only connecting one keyboard to it,
although
you can probably get away with a second keyboard using midi thru. The
software is pretty accessible, especially if you download a set of
scripts
that somebody created from the midi-mag ftp site. As for a keyboard,
accessibility is tough there. What are you looking for in a controller,
something with sounds, or something to control soft synths, how many
keys,
weighted or nonweighted, price range, things like that would help narrow
it
down.

Subject: [ddots-l] Accessible software & keyboards

Hi all,
=20
I put an enquiry on the site a little time ago but, as I have had only
one
reply I am trying again.
=20
1. Is the M-Audio 1010LT a good buy as a home mixer for use with a
PC and 3 or 4 stereo audio sources plus MIDI i/o. If so, do I need a
separate patchbay or can everything be connected directly to the 1010?
Otherwise could anyone recommend an alternative, bearing in mind that
cost
is important?
=20
2. Is the software suite supplied with these cards accessible to
screenreaders or would I have to use separate software.
=20
3. Can anyone advise me as to a MIDI synth/controller that is
accessible and suitable for use with this system/ =20 Graham Woodward.
