Hi Tim,

I guess you and I could talk privately, but hang it. Others
here may agree or disagree with the following.

Your survey is a great idea, but is like a petition with a
silent majority.

Why don't you ask ME how many music customers I have? I
can't legally give you names, but I can perhaps give you
numbers.

How many colleges have how many students? - perhaps I can at
least help with names of colleges with known VS.. students.
You can then ask them for numbers

I'm sure we can get that 200 way up.

George.

Peter,

This is exactly why I set up the petition at:

http://www.raisedbar.net/petition.htm

The first question that any manufacturer will ask is "how
many people does
this affect" and nobody seems to have any solid data.
There's currently
just over 200 signatures on the petition and I doubt that
this will be
enough to impress any manufacturer, but please pass on my
details and the
link to anybody who would be interested in signing the
petition, or knowing
its outcome (that definitely includes your contact with
Radar).

Best wishes.

Subject: [ddots-l] A chance to help make RADAR accessible

Hi All,

I just had a call from a guy who has personal contact with
Barry Henderson,
president of IZ Technology, who make the RADAR hard disk
recorders.

These are widely used in pro and semi-pro studios, and
although some of the
functions can be used once you learn keystrokes on the
control unit, it is
very menu-driven, and when it comes to editing, bouncing or
choosing between
alternative takes, it gets difficult or impossible.

He's sympathetic to the idea of working on accessibility,
and has already
started working with a programmer to look at
speech-enabling, but he needs
evidence that there would be real market interest.

To keep this alive, we are trying to collect names of people
who support
this work because they might be interested in using RADAR
now or later. He
even thinks this might help put pressure on Digidesign and
the like if they
see similar work going on.

Could anyone who would like to support this or express an
interest drop me
an Email at <peter@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Please pass this on to anyone or any relevant list, and of
course I'll keep
you posted.

Best,

Peter
