[deltachat/deltachat-core-rust] [wip] broadcasts (#2707) – introduce broadcast
list chats as known from eg. whatsapp or threema:
- for the sender, a broadcast looks and behaves similar to a normal group
- one has a memberlist and can write to them
- the recipients, however, receive the messages in their one-to-one-chats
and can also reply there as usual [1]
- replies are not shown in the broadcast chat but in the one-to-one chat [1]
- one sender, many recipients that do not know of each other
- replies go to the sender only, the other recipients are not aware of replies
this pr has roughly the state of the #BCC-chatname-hack suggested at #1939,
however uses a clear new type, see there and #1918 and the forum for lots
of past discussions.
multi-device-sync is not yet added, on other devices, the broadcasted messages
will pop up in the self-chat. this needs to be targeted, probably #2669
is helpful for that.
ui need some adaptions, however, in general this is pretty close to group
creation, only some things have to be hidden (group-icon, add-members-by-qr
- and maybe broadcast-list-name [2])
- [ ] allow creation of broadcast lists
- [ ] send to broadcast lists
- [ ] sync broadcast lists to other sender devices (for the recipients,
things should be fine)
i think, this somehow fits to AEAP as these lists are useful eg. to inform
many ppl about a new email-address. in general, these lists are useful for
teachers giving homework, party invitations and so on. [...]
