ATTENTION DBMAT FAMILIES
The time is fast running short to provide input on the DARS-TWC transition
plan. There are significant concerns, and the more groups and individuals
who bring these points to the attention of the people collecting input, the
better. This change will affect your DARS programs! Email your letters and
DARS and TWC will take written comments submitted electronically to
Communications@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx only until 5:00 p.m. on September 18, 2015.
Below are items you might want to mention in your comments. If you sent one
earlier, you can send another now. You can add to the comments, modify it
with your issues, create an entirely new document... the most important thing
you personally can do is think about what is important to you, your family,
your organization, etc. and let the transition staff know about it.
1) The future of deafblind services for children and the elderly
2) The future services for students from 10 years of age until whatever age
TWC begins the Transition Program after the transition from DBS.
3) The oversight of the Children's Program, which has offered a rich array of
supports for children and their families in the past.
4) The need to maintain current standards in qualifications for Vocational
Rehabilitation counselors and Children's Caseworkers.
5) The necessity for ILS services to include in-home services and offer ready
access to specialized services including Certified O&M specialists, certified
vision rehabilitation therapists and certified low vision therapists.
Step up and be heard! Only 2 more in-person public hearing are left. You
don't have to arrive at 4, just get there when you can, sign in to speak
and/or provide written comments:
