As the BCA L list kept bouncing I send again. It will be vital our
organisations develop policies on this - if anyone wants the document that
discusses please ask which may be easier than the web site & then downloading
as I already have.
You would be aware of a recent posting I had on the soon to be rolled out (in
geographic stages) of the My E Health - the time table of roll out will be
forwarded to me.
I was involved in my first phone link today. The underpinning document can be
accessed on the web entitled
Australia's National Digital Health Strategy. Safe, seamless and secure:
evolving health and care to meet the needs of modern Australia.
Its quite a complex document but worthy of understanding & developing policy
around its contents. I attach here but equally appreciate for many it will not
be accessible as pdf & technical.
I will try to summarize from those present on the phone link - the creators,
implementation team & others.
The organisers are attempting to speak with as many organisations as possible
as in medical & service providers but this is a huge task in itself due to the
numerical number that exist.
Community partnerships are being created as to education, approaches &
implementation. It will be released toward the end of the year with an opt in
or out procedure.
Medical groups include, hospitals, pharmacy bodies, Medical professional
Colleges, Allied Health groups, ambulance etc
The information kept will only be a summary & contacts for more information so
will cover a person regardless as to where in Australia they are.
Persons uploading can include self, hospital, General practitioners, pharmacy
etc
There are strict log in protocols & an access call centre can be notified of
any potential breech. If a persons file is accessed the person or their
guardian will be notified so as to inform & validate. Paramedics & ICU
Paramedics can gain access to aspects that are important to their role.
There are three components
1. Awareness of its existence, access & responsibility
2. Enablement as to adequate & appropriate training as well as software &
updates
3. Participation which will be marketed prior & during the roll out
It will be essential for DB & BCA to develop health care policies which reflect
the needs of people they represent & then share with the team responsible for
the implementation.
I raised
Marketing to those with chronic diseases, vision, hearing & cognition
associated disability
The SA Enterprise Patient Administration System in Hospitals is still not fully
rolled out
Not all persons are computer literate to access their own records
Lawyers need to become incorporated in the roll-out as to enduring power of
Attorney, Advance Care Directives & the Wallet card to relay essential
information so that a persons wishes & needs are understood. Most download the
paperwork & are not aware of the Kit contents.
It is vital to empower people so that the best use of hospital beds, ICU,
Theater, resuscitation & health budget costs can be managed
The process of updating personal information
