It’s important to remember, every delay gets us closer to the train network our
world-class city needs.
Works will involve the following:
· Overhead wiring works, including piling to create new foundations, trenching,
installing new structures, removing redundant structures and other wiring
activities.
· Installation of new sleepers on the tracks.
· Tree trimming.
· Identification, location and surveying of underground services using vacuum
trucks.
· Preparation of work sites near Hallam, Berwick and Officer stations.
What to expect
· Construction impacts such as noise, dust and vibration. These will be managed
by the project team using noise blankets, water carts and other localised
measures where appropriate.
· Work crews, machinery and traffic management working adjacent to level
crossing sites and on local roads.
· During this time, Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) may undertake necessary
maintenance works to ensure the ongoing safety and efficiency of the network.
· Work activities occurring both day and night throughout the weekend.
· Local council road changes, including intermittent stop/start traffic
controls and temporary lane closures.
Traffic impacts
The following traffic impacts will occur from week commencing 10 July:
