Melbourne Tram Route 58 and Domain Rd closed
Following the construction blitz to build a new Route 58 tram connection on
Toorak Road West, Domain Road has now closed for around five years between St
Kilda Road and the western end of Edmund Herring Oval.
The closure of Domain Road will facilitate vital sewer works that must be
completed before construction of Domain Station starts in early 2018. Following
completion of the sewer works, Domain Road will be part of the station
construction site and will connect a tunnelling support site at nearby Edmund
Herring Oval to the St Kilda Road main works area.
The northern footpath on Domain Road will remain accessible to pedestrians and
cyclists with a temporary path diversion in place through the Shrine Grounds
during the sewer works. Access to the rest of Domain Road from the east and via
other local streets will be maintained.
