You're on a PC - need some sort of sound system.
There's confusion (at least in my head) because original PCs had a sound
making device on the mother board, then you have sound cards.
I have a sound system (amplifier speakers) connected to my PC (for
listening to music and videos) and when check as you type is on, the
beep comes from that. There's no beeper on the mother board, so if the
amplifier is not powered on, no sound.
I have the same problem as Peter.
First this all happens on the same computer, W7 Pro 64bit SP1.
Has sound capability active and the powered speakers connected, will play
music, videos, and sound out of other apps.
Running VRPC-DL and RISC OS Ovation Pro I get beeps when I spewl somethunk
wrunggg.
Drop out of VRPC to Win 7.
Windows RISC OS with the same configuration, and when I spull something
wronk no sound of any sort is forthcoming.
As well as or instead of, you can go to the view -> options menu and
select show spelling errors.
Indeed, but not quite the same if one is head down plonking away at the
keyboard looking at the document one is transcribing. :-/
