Windows has this, I don't like it, all too often one is copying to a
window that contains nothing but directories. Unless there is good
feedback showing what is going to happen, things get copied where you
don't want them, they get lost, you waste time hunting for empty space
to drop into.
Remember that if even only a sliver of the top of the directory
window to receive a file is showing, you can drag the file to that
and it will copy to the directory, not any subdirectories (in W10,
and I think in W7 though I don't have that any more). Also, if a
file goes somewhere you didn't intend, Ctrl-Z is your friend - even
with the filer.
(Sorry about the off-topicness of this; some of us have had to use
Windows in anger for more than 20 years...)
