An alternative to Ovation that I use is Xara Designer Pro (DP) it can
export word and many other formats including Artworks where it derived
from and import PDF, Draw and many others. Xara also have a Page and
Layout Designer on its own (its part of

The trouble is that it is a drawing program and very good for that but
it is not a full DTP at the moment, it will eventually become one.
And cannot manage large documents.
