Don't you mean that Mac OS runs on emulation, and the others in native x86 mode. 

(Depends if it is a Mac post the Apple move to Intel x86 chips).
As I said at the time Iyonix came out, people who had moved RISC OS to emulation could consider the 32 bit conversion an irritation.
