That is true. It is kind of a special case of "is the filetype the problem".

The one that always worries me is the 5 seconds (it is configurable) that SparkFS leaves files open with unwritten data - if you're really quick you can copy things to floppy or whatever in that time, usually resulting in a file that is a lot bigger than it should be.

There is a SparkFS option, to "forget" an archive, useful if you want to close it and flush data. (also removes it from memory)

I suppose one could fiddle with the existing "ImageFSFix" module to make image files appear as ordinary files to certain applications. For example I have always wanted to load archive files into Edit.
