Windows seems to think you want different behaviour in things like
you pictures folder compared to your documents folder. So despite me saying
I want "all folders to look like this" I occasionally come across one
that doesn't.
Thanks for clearing that up.
There is a way in Windows to set the default appearance for folders.
From explorer Tools->options View tab "Apply to Folders". This will
make the "current view" the default.
You may need to do a reset folders first, spin round 3 times and
stand on your head and you'll still find some that don't work.
Presumably in the registry the settings for each folder are remembered
and you could then find any which are odd.
Yes and no. There are only registry entries for folders you have changed.
There may be a hidden desktop.ini file in the folder which can change its
behaviour.
This is what happens in "special" folders like MyPictures.
There is a limited number of entries in the registry which used to be quite
small.
So you would find settings you had made would get "forgotten" because they were
overwritten by a newer setting. This number has been increased so it is a lot
harder to hit the limit.
