Was the old behaviour disc directory order, where things might go at
the end (if the directory was full), or they might go where the gaps
in the directory were.
I thought it was simply that Explorer showed new stuff in new rows at
the bottom of the current disokay, regardless of how that was sorted.
That's what used to happen. In my experience, this seems to have stopped
happening.
I feel Win may have had a feature where you could put files into
arbitrary order by dragging them around.
This still exists, you have to turn off auto arrange
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/92758-windows-explorer-auto-arrange-disable.html
I have a feeling that some "special" folders had this turned off by default.
This may have changed.
Windows seems to think you want different behaviour in things like
you pictures folder compared to your documents folder. So despite me saying
I want "all folders to look like this" I occasionally come across one that
doesn't.
