Do you have Text frame inset = 0 (Misc>Choices>Text), by any chance? This makes 
text selection a little more difficult, but it should still work with 
left/right click. You might also look at your Mouse settings in Windows Control 
Panel -- Pointer options ... look at the <speed> and <precision> settings.**

Failing that, D.P. has provided chapter and verse.

** Now, there's a thought ... going back to the Windows 7/OPW/VMware issue!
