I've been playing with the direct PostScript settings to determine which give the best results with Acrobat Distiller (v4 and v8) ...
The Manual (yes, I do read it occasionally ...) advises selecting Generic PostScript in order to produce a PS file "for use in another program". I'm using OPW under WindowsXP (via the VMware Fusion emulator) on a MacBook Pro, so ... I print the OPW document to (PS) file, then take the PS file over to MacOS, and open it with Acrobat Distiller (v8) -- I assume this is what is meant by using the PS file in another program. Alternatively, I can print direct to Acrobat Distiller (v4) on the Windows side -- the results appear more or less the same.
If I select "Generic PostScript" before generating the PS, in the resulting PDF about 2cm is cropped from the top of an A4 page. If I leave "Generic PostScript" unchecked, then this doesn't happen.
The above is just an observation. I get perfectly good PDFs using the following PS choices:
