I believe it works in layers, at the bottom is the colour definition of
overprint and on top of it is the object layer. However higher levels
can't turn off overprint.
If a colour is set to overprint then it overprints where ever it is
used, even if the object overprint setting is off.
Colour definition is global - as described above.
The only explanation why changing the setting for one frame might affect
another I can think of, is that both frames were selected at the time.
