Just a correction to my recent post - editing the template does work
for me.
What confused me was that I created a very wide main window, but it
opened smaller. It turned out (as I should have realised) that the
default document was not as wide as the template, and it opened to the
width of the default document.
Using WinED for this:
Double-click the Templates file
Double-click the Main window.
Drag the window to the size and position you need.
Close the window (not essential)
Over the list of windows, click Menu, and choose Save.
