Hi,

Thinking about the OvationPro loader for Impression files - what did
anyone hate about it?

No hates. just a few niggles.

Off hand I recall I did not support rule offs. What else?

ISTR that a lot of people said at the time "not good enough", "100%
accuracy is required".

Another tack, as an Impression user, what's hard to change to in Ovation
Pro - key presses or what?

When we did OP we often did things different to Impression just to be
different, we could not always think of a better way but did not want to
copy.

It would have been a better idea to clone it - at the time Beebug made a
lot of money from CC products and did not want to offend, by the time OP
came out CC had departed the scene.

What interesting thoughts...

All my business paperwork(*1) was originally in Impression files (The
appdir types) later versions all saved out in the single file versions.

I joined OvPro at the beginning in the Beebug days so at that time, as far
as I was aware there was no auto conversion of Impression to OvPro, thus
my important (Most used) business documents were manually re-created for
OvPro, the rest were done later with the auto convert capability.

Though I'm long since retired, and have all sorts of document processors
available on the PC side of my computing, I still use OvPro for probably
90 percent of my document creation work... sometimes RISC OS OvPro but
mostly Win OvPro.

SWMBO who is a lover of Imp Publisher, complains about the frames
converted, a known niggle, but in my case I just set to and made the
required adjustments.

She's also has problems with master pages as they are quite different to
the Publisher method.

My number one annoyance is Page deletion, and though you have explained it
to me multiple times, I still don't get it...

Well, what I do get are unwanted pages that won't delete.

But all the little niggles aside, for me Ovation Pro is up there in my
list of top apps... Actually number two, number one being PaintShop Pro a
graphics app.

I don't just like OvPro as an app, I really love using it.  :-)

Thanks David for an excellent app.

Dave

*1) When I started my business it was with a typewriter, then Wordwise on
a BBC-B and thereafter  Wordwise+ InterWord, Imp Junior, Style, Publisher
and then head and shoulder above, Ovation Pro.

I've never regretted moving all my document out of Publisher to OvPro. :-)

Well maybe occasionally, when a particular customers wanted Word documents.
