As for replacing XP, I can think of one reason - the 'Blue Screen Of Death on update' event last week, which hit one of my machines! Microsoft swooped on it, took it away for diagnosis, and identified the virus that caused it. Before it was collected I learnt more than I cared to know about Boot settings and the Recovery Console... What we need is an operating system in ROM that can't be infected.
