Shoved it across the entwork to the XP machine and Win OvPro it loaded straight away, with just one font substitution (The font does exist on the RO machine). Examined the file, it is something I need, so I do a Save back... Trundle my chair to the other end of the desk and wohay! the file will now load into the RO OvPro.
No idea. There are problems in documents which OPW fixes, so you could have had one of those.
The DDL version springs to mind, but if you can't load the doc. on RISC OS you can't save it. Saving and reloading on Windows would clean up the document - however you'd lose any missing fonts and apparently what you did fixed the document.
2.55 is rather an old version of OP, so more problems than with current ones.
