ISTR (and I haven't used the RTF import for a loooooong time) that if
you drop an RTF file on the icon it uses the page as described in the
RTF file (which is what you'd generally want). If, however, you drop the
RTF file onto a frame in an already open document it ignores the
document spec in the RTF file and just drops the text and associated
styling into the frame.
This, of course, could be complete rubbish as it has been dragged from
the depth of my memories but it may help you!
