I’m generating a booklet (A4 folded in half to A5) and I want a 4 page pull-out
in the middle. Is there an easy way to do this in a single document or
should I just make a second document of those 4 pages?
If it’s in a single document the 4 pages would have to somehow “stick” in the
middle
while other pages flow behind/around them. Or maybe I could just link the 4
pages
somehow and move them as one to the middle as the rest of the document is
created.

Why not just make those four pages a separate chapter in an A5 booklet and
juggle with its positioning in the document so that it occupies the centre four
pages?
I don’t think there is any way to make a second chapter split the first
chapter. So this would be the same as putting the 4 pages in a second document.
It does have the advantage of keeping it all in one document, but otherwise
requires fiddling with the printed pages to get everything lined up.
