I have a dim (false?) memory that from RISC OS, there may be some 
PostScript code that looks at the page size (i.e. name A4) and clips. So 
if you call your football pitch sized page "A4_big" it might just get 
clipped whilst "whopper" would not.

Shouldn't be a problem in my case as the large size page form is called 
"Tree2k350"
