I can sympathise, as the tree, started by a now deceased uncle in the
1960s, which I'm in the process (Very slowly) of transcribing from the
paper version, which starts in 1772 down to the late 1960s is rather large.
After some test work, I decided the way to make it more manageable while
under construction was to cut the project into a couple of parts.
As it is working on a 2 metre wide piece of virtual paper is still quite a
challenge, even on a wide(ish) screen monitor. :-/
Then of course, I'm in the process of getting together all the subsequent
additions to the tree that arrived after uncle departed the scene.
