Hi,
Always intrigued how to make setting or changing file types in Windows –now 10-
as easily as in RISC OS, I finally made the decision to make that possible in
Windows 10.
Fortunately: “once” configured, means “for always” ... as far as possible in
Windows ;—)
How to enable this setting/changing?
You can only do that in Windows (8/10), when you have configured Windows “to
show file extensions”.
This can be done via (Control Panel> ) File Explorer
File Explorer > Options
(or click the drop down menu and click Change folder and search
options)
Click View tab > uncheck “Hide extensions for known file types”
When you have done that, you’ll see a windows extension, added to the file NAME.
Every standard OPW file, has now .dpd added. Every text file, .txt
When you use “Rename” to change only the name, only the extension, or both.
When you change the ‘extension’ part of this file name, file type changes:
Change name from xxx.txt to xxx.dpd, and file type is changed “on the fly”.
Switching to be able to see file extensions, has only to be done once!
