The fire that did most of the damage was on the eastern side of Devil's
peak and was apparently not arson but the result of a vagrant's cooking
fire. But news reports are confusing, saying the person whose fire this was
has been arrested for arson and may have also started other fires
deliberately. There was also a smaller fire on the western side of the
mountain that was started by other arsonists, who have been arrested.
