As you may have seen reported in Arts Industry earlier this year
PortlandGreen has been project managing the ³loan² of an Arts Council
England Dance Moving Image ?Collection¹ to a single study centre.
The loan is modelled on Arts Council England's Loan of its Artists¹ Film and
Video Collection in June 2001 to the AHRB funded British Artists¹ Film and
Video Study Centre, based at Central St Martin¹s College of Art and Design
and its collection of 16mm prints of Films by American Artists to Lux
Distribution. This has been very successful project for both partners and
the loan has been renewed.

The original primary loan institution who was hoping to broker a deal with
other institutions, has been unsuccessful, so we are again looking for an
institution who would like to take the study collection. It contains 365
items in total, (276 on VHS, 28 on Beta, 59 on U-matic, and 2, celluloid
films). These represent 279 separate titles, through compilations of
titles, duplicate copies of titles and titles in more than one format. A
copy of the inventory is available to possible ?loan¹ institutions upon
request. Approximately two third of the titles were not commissioned by the
Arts Council and the rights (distribution, promotion, underlying etc) rest
outside the Arts Council with the copyright owner. There is a background
document, loan agreement and inventory available should you want more

Please contact me if you know of an institution within your region that may
be interested in being "loaned" the collection.

Many Thanks,

Portland Green
