Researchers in many fields, including economics, dance and movement
studies, social anthropology and social studies, meet to discuss the
human body in the global economy as IADE hosts the first international
conference on the human body in business contexts in Helsinki, Finland,
18th-20th April 2008.

Globalization has underscored the importance of cultural understanding
in relation to social interaction in professional contexts. The
conference serves as a forum for stimulating and disseminating research
on the complex connections between business behaviour, communication,
social interaction, body, movement, culture and globalization.

The conference program includes competitively selected research papers,
as well as workshops and a small number of invited keynote speakers.

The Business Bodies 2008 Conference is co-organised by Dr Kai Lehikoinen
and Dr Riitta Pasanen-Willberg of IADE, Art Universities of Finland.

IADE is a new education and development institute for the creative
industries run jointly by the University of Art and Design Helsinki and
the TheatreAcademy. The institute operates on the interface between art
universities and society, fulfilling the third mission of universities.
IADE is a national unit for development and lifelong learning in the
creative industries in Finland. Its mission is to strengthen and promote
creative thinking and artistic work, dynamic knowledge and cultural
education, as well as entrepreneurship in cultural and creative
industries.
