I have a conflict and cannot attend tonight, but the meeting is still on and I
believe Boyce stepped up to be Toastmaster since Brissa was unavailable. Not
certain whether or not there is a theme.
We have not taken official breaks and time off in the summer. In prior
discussions it has been determined that it is so easy to step away and take a
break and ultimately not have the 'desire or motivation' to return. Ideally a
club continues membership growth and has 20+ members so that any personal
absences are able to be filled by other members who happen to be around.
There's always an understanding that life happens and not everyone can attend
every single meeting. I've taking time off for work travel and school, but
attended as often as I could. There are also members who never miss a meeting
and we need a club to support them as well.
As you know, our club is in a rebuilding phase, and with the new members taking
over officer roles and training taking place at the end of this month, I would
not recommend implementing any breaks. Right now is the ideal time for new
officers to obtain training, and develop the momentum and put together a
membership growth and PR plan in place in order to promote and attract new
members. This can be done simultaneously while keeping the regular club
meetings going. :)

Wondering if it might be a good idea for CVTM to take a break for the summer
with so many of us in and out. Has that been done before? That might give the
incoming officers some time to plan for the fall, etc.
