Issue 5: 2.3.2002 Over the past week many things have been happening. Zach and I have managed to get some publicity in our school's news program (any publicity is good publicity),and I've talked to Jen, the owner/leader of SimplyJam.com, and we're going to do a link-exchange. This should bring the e-zine to the attention of a few more people. Most importantly, Zach and I are working on getting another writer. We found a guy names James who used to write for Simplyjam.com, but got booted because of negative feedback towards his column and creativity conflicts with the Jam, but I liked his column and articles and believe he would make a great addition to The Crapshoot. We sent him an e-mail showing our interest, and we're waiting for a reply. Everyone, cross your fingers. Enjoy this issue of The Crapshoot, and remember to cause some chaos. R.J. Here are some interesting poems I stumbled across: The Road Not Taken Robert Frost, 1874-1963 Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth. Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence; Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Movie Review: Pi By Zach Care for a treat next time you go to the video store, O my Brothers? The underground Darren Aronofsky hit Pi is just what you need. This film is a black and white odity that follows a mathematition Max Cohen. Max is studying Pi, and discovers a pattern in the stock market. Soon, a media big wig begins following him, demanding an interview so as to know his amazing discovery. Not only this, but a Jewish Misticist is convincing Max to give him and his fellow hosse's this number for the good of the world. This great yet odd movie is wonderful, and I recomend it to just about anybody who loves art house movies. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zach's Site of the Week By Zach Ain't It Cool News This website offers great movie news, reviews, and so much more! Owned and opperated by Harry Knowles, a native of Texas, this website has more than enough. Harry has made a name for himself with his website, and has become great friends with two of the most well known filmmakers, Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown) and Robert Rodriguez (Spy Kids, The Faculty). Check it out, because it's just cool! Ain't it? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- R.J.'s Site of the Week By R.J. SimplyJam SimplyJam is a site dedicated to the local rock bands of South Florida. They have three columnists and a street team that look for upcoming concerts and review them. If you're interested in local bands such as Protagonist or SOL, then this is, by far, the best place to visit. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Links Ain't It Cool News Simplyjam.com IMDB: Pi
