LEARN ABOUT ONTARIO'S FOREST, WETLAND AND LAKE INVADERS! Keep your calendars open on Saturday November 20, 2004 from 9:00a.m. to 2:30p.m. for the upcoming Invading Species Workshop for Landowners. Asian Long-Horned Beetle, Round Goby, and Purple Loosestrife are examples of just a few invading species, which threaten the health of Ontario's forests, lakes and wetlands. Introduced from other regions of the world these invasive insects, plants and fish can have devastating environmental impacts. This workshop will provide you with the most current information on these invaders and actions to date to prevent their spread. This workshop is coordinated by York Environmental Stewardship in partnership with the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, Toronto and Region and Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authorities, Halton Peel Woodlands and Wildlife Stewardship, Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, York Region, Oak Ridges Moraine Land Trust (ORMLT), and Seneca College.
