DUTIES:
Working in association with the Regional Director, Southern Region of Field
Services Division, you will: provide leadership and direction to the
development, transfer and implementation of a Sustainable Greenspace Program
for Southern Ontario. Program leadership includes development of strategic
vision, policy direction, development and setting up implementation
strategies; development of strategic partnerships and working effectively
with inter and intra-ministry committees.
COMPETENCIES/QUALITIES:
1. Excellent Management Skills to direct project planning and
development, coordination and implementation including broad ministry
financial and human resources, regular performance management, effective and
equitable distribution of responsibilities and opportunities, mentoring and
preparing staff for career advancement.
2. Excellent Negotiation & Liaison Skills to achieve effective,
coordinated, understandable communications with clients, stakeholders and
the public. Excellent negotiation skills, tact and diplomacy required for
liaison with other agencies, non-government organizations, other
governments.
3. Excellent Communication Skills to both establish and work with a
Minister appointed Advisory Group, inform senior management of the
implications of various policy and implementation approaches, both within
Field Services Division and other facets of the ministry. Communicate with
the ministry executive committee, HRPC and other senior committees as well
as a number of stakeholders.
4. Excellent Leadership Skills to coach, facilitate, guide and deliver
a Sustainable Greenspace Program that effectively integrates and provides a
strategic approach to delivery of a range of ministry programs in Southern
Ontario, working harmoniously with multi-discipline professional staff and
program clients.
5. Political Acuity to recognize and respond to issues which may have
impact on the Minister and Deputy Minister. To be aware of the larger
social, economic and political issues when dealing with specific issues
raised by the staff/public/industry and other ministries and government
agencies at a municipal, provincial, federal or international level.
6. Knowledge of Ministry programs, partnerships and mandates of other
ministries to analyze the implications of proposals and decisions for the
sustainability of Ontario's resources. Extensive knowledge, understanding
and appreciation of natural systems and their components. Must be a leader
in the area of ecological sustainability. Applied knowledge of business
planning and a sound comprehension of the socio-economic importance of
resource management policies and programs. Understanding and appreciation
of diverse client needs and resource issues.
