COORDINATORfor theCOMMUNITY FORESTRY INITIATIVE(THREE YEAR CONTRACT)
POSITION:The County of Wellington, in partnership with the Wellington County
Stewardship Council (WCSC), seeks a well-organized and competent individual
who will develop and coordinate an innovative program that combines
education and environmental restoration; involving volunteers to grow native
trees from seed. This position will report to the Stewardship Coordinator
for the WCSC for operational direction and leadership, and administratively
to a Senior Planner for the County.RESPONSIBILITIES:? Provide coordination,
training and leadership to teachers, students and volunteers in all aspects
of seed collection, planting and tending of trees? Organize community
workshops and volunteer work days? Directly conduct tree identification,
seed collection, planting and tending ? Develop and monitor project budgets
and grant requests? Identify manpower, equipment and material needs for
individual projects? Maintain liaison with partner organizations,
individuals and agencies? Prepare quarterly and annual progress reports?
Develop a training manual for volunteers QUALIFICATIONS:? University
degree or college diploma in forestry, forest management, horticulture, or
related discipline? Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication
skills ? Experience in working with students and community volunteers ?
Demonstrated planning, coordination, and group leadership skills? Ability
to
work with minimum supervision in a team environment? Good analytical and
problem solving skills? Proficient user of MS Word, Excel and Access? Valid
Ontario Class "G" drivers license and use of personal vehicle (with
remuneration) RENUMERATION:This position offers a comprehensive benefit
package with a starting salary of $36,667 (2004 Pay Rate).Qualified
