Thanks everyone for your updates. We just got two great pieces from
Charlie re: the DeVos package (Education in the Time of Trump: Privatizers
and Union Busters -- Defend Public Education; and DeVos -- The Family That
Preys Together); Tyler is working on his piece on McCarthyism
in academia in the 1940s and 50s. San is final editing the Vera-Vygotsky
interview. Some assignment updates: Zac is working on "CUNY, Cuomo, and
Free Tuition...For Whom?", and Mark will do the book review of Reds at the
Blackboard.
And we definitely need to include the article on New Orleans schools, which
is on the CSEW web site, but does not yet appear in print form.
*On numbering*:
Tyler asked why we're calling this No. 5. I've created an index which is
attached here.
We want to use the title: *Marxism & Education*, Newsletter of Class
Struggle Education Workers. In addition, we have the first "Marxism and
the Battle over Education" which was a special supplement of *The
Internationalist*.
Thus the new issue will be No. 5 (that comes in sequence after issues 1, 2,
3, 4 of the CSEW newsletters).
In my mind that seems to reflect what we're actually doing.
See the attached file, because if you are missing any issues we can send
you a file for your collection.
The index is not a full archive, which we need, but I've tried to point to
key articles....
