The Hunter New Caucus slate for chapter delegates and executive committee

result, in accordance with the PSC rules, they can't be on the ballot.

All this would mean I would become a totally unelected delegate and member
of the chapter leadership. (And of course I;ve always done a lot of work
in/for the chapter, doubly so when Ive been elected as delegate, which ex
officio makes you part of the chapter EC.)
For these reasons I wrote and sent the letter reproduced below.

Hi Barbara,
Thank you for your email message. I would like to express my appreciation
for the work you are doing amidst, and despite, the very difficult period
we are all going through. I hope all is well with you and your family.
I would like to express my view regarding the unusual and complicated
situation regarding the Hunter chapter election, and to request that it be
conveyed to members of the EC.
While I understand the legitimate technical reasons, speaking for myself
it doesn't really make sense to me to be made a delegate only by virtue of
having turned in the nominating petition and being certified as a
candidate. I don't think, even in these very unusual circumstances, that I
should thereby automatically be considered elected.
If I understand correctly, given the current situation no ballot will be
made and sent out now; but even if it were, me being the only person on it
wouldn't correspond to the actual situation in the chapter. Having
long-standing disagreements with the New Caucus, I have of course chosen
to run as an independent, as in previous elections. Though I have always
been active in the chapter, and have been elected sometimes in the past
(albeit with a minority of total votes received), and it would, needless to
say, be very good if the majority of chapter members were to agree with my
views and platform, I am unaware of data presently indicating this to be
the case.
Moreover, in reality it is due only to a technical mishap that the NC
slate headed by Jen Gaboury isn't on the ballot. Of course the Election
Committee has to act in accordance with the rules. But the absence of
the slate from the ballot shouldn't, as I see it, mean that I should not be
subject to actual election. The nominating petition can't stand in for
that; and as we all know, signing to get a candidate on the ballot doesn't
necessarily mean committing to voting for them. I really feel that to
serve, one ought to get actual votes (even if elected by a minority of
total voters).
For these reasons, I would like to request, rather than being
automatically certified, that I as an independent candidate be on the
ballot in the same special election that the NC slate would be on, which if
I understand correctly would be held in the fall.
