Hi Marjorie,

I would love to join in. Will I be able to call in?

 Hi comrades,

Time:   *1 pm, Sunday* November 17
Place:   *The new office, * *131 Varick Street*  (call when get there).
It is on the corner of Spring and Varick;  nearest trains are the C and E
to Spring Street; the 1 train to Houston Street, or any train to W. 4th
Street and short walk over.

The program:

On Sunday November 17th, at 1 pm, at the CSEW-UFT meeting, Charlie Brover
has agreed to present on the question of "Critical Race Theory."  Other
comrades in our common movement may want to attend, due to the importance
of this topic.

The impetus for the presentation grew out of the political-ideological
situation faced by our UFT teacher fraction, in the face of Chancellor
Carranza's mandate that all teachers must take "implicit bias" training.
This is highly controversial, not only from the right but also from many
anti-racist teachers who do not buy into the pervasive "white skin
privilege" liberal ideology.

We are facing this not only in the schools, but on the campuses, and at
workplaces, and internationally as well.

Please let me or Yari know if you plan to attend.  (UFT teachers please
come a little early so we can do our usual share out before the
presentation).

Charlie requests we read the chapter by Gloria Ladson-Billings, which I
have attached.  Also attached is Yari's report on the highly-charged
intervention in her Hunter ed-school class (an amazing document!).
